When installing windows 7 on my classified k z170 i will have to make sure that windows 7 install is turned on in the bios have my mouse and keyboard plugged into the usb 2.0 ports and have my sata drive connected.. My installation of windows 7 enterprise in z170 pro gaming motherboard is working fine, but when i install the drivers from cd it hangs-up i waited 1 hour but still not running can't move mouse everything hang-up . . ..
But, you can`t install windows 7 through usb on a z170 it is now a picnic to install windows 7 on a z170 using the 3.0 usb ports by setting up a usb installer using asus`s ez installer program, but the z170 has usb 2.0 ports, so no issue anyway.. My asus z170-a's manual stated that 100-series boards do not allow windows 7 installation without pre-loading usb 3.0 drivers, and it includes instructions for doing so. for my part, i installed windows 7 by booting from the dvd in legacy mode..
